Monthly Membership Meeting – Agenda

Friday, March 1, 2024, 7:00 pm

Opening Prayers/Special Intentions: For Patty’s daughter Bridget and all women who strive to conceive, may St. Ann and St. Joachim intercede on their behalf.  For Donna’s sister and all cancer patients, may St. Peregrine hear our prayers and relieve the suffering of those who carry this terrible burden.  For Adrienne’s relatives who are experiencing difficult pregnancies, may we pray to St. Gerard for his intervention. For Loie who has received good news, may her health continue to flourish and may she kiss the doctor goodbye.  For Maddie, we wait on pins and needles.  We are hoping that our prayers are being heard by God’s ears.  No one is more deserving.  He must have heard us; our prayers were answered – Maddie was named Miss Smiling Irish Eyes!! – We could not be prouder!!

Motion for Last Month’s Meeting Minutes: The minutes were emailed to the membership for the February meeting.  A motion was made by Loie Callwood to enter the minutes without reading, the motion was seconded by Donna Ricca.

Installation of New Members: 

Correspondence: We received a Thank you card from Kathleen Diulus and a Thank you card from Donna Ricca.  Both will be attached to the email.

Officer Presentations: 

PRESIDENT:  Gina showed the ad that will be in the St. Patrick Day Communion Day Breakfast Program and discussed the table that she purchased for Division #23.

VICE PRESIDENT:  Colleen spoke about the Juniors and their first meeting this Sunday.

TREASURER: $6700 in Operating; $4000 in Charity These are close estimates.  Some checks may be outstanding.

RECORDING SECRETARY: Carmella planned a retreat at Seton Hill, more information will be coming this week.

FINANCIAL SECRETARY: $700.00 (current members); $90.00 (new members) one over payment was discussed and Nan was told to keep the money and next year only charge her $20.00.  The Men’s dues went up so it was felt this member thought our dues may have gone up.

New Business: 

A motion was made to purchase Canva software to create flyers for fundraisers.  The cost is $119 per year.  Donna made the motion, Carmella seconded.

A committee will be formed to review the membership roster and specifically verify who has paid dues in the past several years.

Junior Update: 

The Juniors will meet at Nancy McKenna’s home on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 3:00pm.  396 Maplewood Drive, Pittsburgh, PA  15243.  412-551-6118.    Irish culture and traditions are passed from one generation to another through the stories we tell our children.  Make sure our young ladies have the opportunity to hear about their heritage.

One topic of discussion will be a fundraiser Nan found called School Supplies for Kids.  

Events:

  • LAOH Division #23 Spring Flower Sale – April 1 – April 25th with pick up on May 11th, no Zinnia’s this year, this fundraiser is also looking for volunteers.  
  • LAOH National Convention AOH – LAOH Convention 2024 Orlando (orlandoirish2024.com)
    • August 7 – 11, 2024, Orlando, FL
  • Fox Chapel High School is offering Bag Pipe Lessons 4/2 – 5/14/2024 6:30pm – 8:00pm $95.00, additional costs by also apply no need to have a bagpipe.

Good & Welfare of the Order: 

Dues are being accepted for the 2024-2025 year.  You can pay in person at the monthly meeting to Nan Pischke or mail in your check to Nan Pischke 1822 Jancey Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.  Dues must be paid in order to march in the parade.  Also note, we are in the process of setting up a Venmo Account for the purpose of paying dues and other fees in the future.
