“May the Smile of God light you to Glory” ~ Irish Blessing

In Memory of AOH Division 23 members ~ 2017

Ben Kane

Ben Kane

AOH Member and Division 23 Financial Secretary

Ben passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017.  He was one of our fellow Hibernian brothers and Financial Secretary.  Ben was a drug and alcohol counselor at Pyramid Health Care and was dedicated to helping others.  His contagious smile and laugh will be missed by us all.

I arise today
Through the strength of heaven

Light of the sun,
Splendor of fire,
Swiftness of wind,

Depth of the sea,
Stability of earth,
Firmness of rock.

I arise today
Through God’s strength to pilot me;

God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s hand to guard me.

Afar and anear,
Alone or in a multitude.

Christ shield me today
Against wounding:

Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,

Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,

Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ in me.

I arise today
Through the mighty strength
Of the Lord of Creation.

May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you

Thomas P. Jennings – AOH Member

Tom Jennings

So it is fair to say that Tom lived the message of the Claddagh…”love, loyalty, and friendship…” He loved first and of course and was loved in return…there was nothing he would not do for a family member or a friend right up until the end…and he had a unique ability for making friends become great friends and friends out of strangers… To paraphrase that old Irish blessing…tho the road has risen and carried him on up…tho the wind will no longer push him along life’s travels…the Sun will warm us like his presence always did…and the Rain will wash all the tears away even as he creates laughter up above… Tom…till we meet again.

Michael “Bo” Flaherty – AOH Member

Saint Michael, the Archangel., defend us in battle;

be our protection against the wickedness and snare of the devel.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,

and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host,

by the power of God, thrust into Hell,

Satan and all the other evil spirits,

who prowl throughout the world, seeking the ruin of souls.  Amen.

Jerry Kelly – AOH Member

May the blessings of light be upon you,
Light without and light within.
And in all your comings and goings,
May you ever have a kindly greeting
From them you meet on the road.

Remembered Joy

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free!
I follow the plan God laid for me.
I saw His face, I heard His call,
I took His hand and left it all…
I could not stay another day,
To love, to laugh, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss…
Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss.
My life’s been full, I’ve savoured much:
Good times, good friends, a loved-one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief—
Don’t shorten yours with undue grief.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.

Old Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face and rains fall soft on your fields.
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

St. Patrick’s Breastplate

Christ be with me
Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me,
Christ above me, Christ on my right
Christ on my left, Christ where I lie
Christ where I sit, Christ where I arise
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me
Christ in the mouth of every man who thinks of me
Christ in every eye that sees me
Christ in every ear that hears me
Salvation is of the lord.
