LAOH News

Events
Here is a list of our upcoming events:

Irish New Year will be held on Wednesday, December 31, with doors opening at 4:00 PM. 2026 arrives in Ireland 5 hours earlier than it does in Pittsburgh, so celebrating Irish New Year’s at 7 PM ET gives us a chance to celebrate together a little earlier than most of the US. This was a very popular event last year, if you didn’t make it then, we hope you can be there this year!

Installation of New Members:
- No new members are joining tonight. Remember to give chips for Bekki and Andi who joined last meeting to Tim. We are also giving him a list of the members in good standing so he can see if they get the money when he pulls their name.
Correspondence:
- Thank you from the men for selling the Steeler Tickets.
- Received an email from the men AOH. They are thinking of getting a group together to go to Ireland for the Pitt game in 2027. I talked to Jason, and he said they plan on doing this about a year in advance. The Game is on August 28, 2027, so I will wait until Late summer next year to get and interested list going.
- After our meeting last month Judy forwarded a request for donations of men’s clothing L-XXXL (tops and bottoms) for adolescents in our hospital outpatient partial program. Regina asked if we could give a monetary donation. This request was put on hold.
- An email with the PA Divisions and State Officers was sent. If anyone would like a copy, please let Gina know and she can send you the list.
Officer Presentations:
PRESIDENT:
- The Pitt vs Notre Dame Football Poll is down behind the bar. $20.00 per block. $1000 for
Division. The other winners will receive $125, 1 st QTR; 250; half; $125 3 rd .QTR; $500, 4 th QTR. The game is on Saturday, November 15. Maybe we can get people to come to the club to watch the game and have a 50/50 raffle as well. - The Football Breakfast for the Steeler Game in Ireland was a huge success. I liked the way we handled the fee for breakfast; we just asked that they buy 50/50 tickets, and we charged a little more for them. Almost everyone bought them, and we ended up raising $300. 70 people were in attendance.
- The board approved to carry Joan Paula and Grace Simcic’s dues because of their age and longevity with the LAOH. Several other members were mentioned who we should carry their dues because of age. 80 years old was decided as the age that we carry a member’s dues. It was then mentioned that we may need to revisit this age in the future as our membership ages and if we are not getting as many young members.
VICE PRESIDENT: Excused from Meeting but she sent in a report. – See attached for the report
and a Flyer for the Jr. Event on November 8th.
